Many verses in Proverbs remind us that we need to constantly seek and listen to wise counsel to help us navigate through all areas of life. It is tempting to only seek counsel when the large problems present themselves but we should consistently surround ourselves and heed the advice of wise counsel. However, even though we know all of this to be true it is so easy for us to believe the lies that seeking counsel makes us look weak, ignorant...the lies that tell us we are the only ones dealing with this issue and that we are on our own. In other words, pride is the sin the so easily besets us and hinders us from following the wisdom of the Proverbs.
The Challenge:
1) Commit Proverbs 27:9 to memory so that you can use it to combat the prideful lies that keep you from seeking wise counsel.
2) Read 1st and 2nd Thessalonians at least once, but as many times as you wish, over the next 3 weeks in preparation for our next study. Here is a link to each chapter:
